Land
Bus
Most of the bus companies operate out of their own terminals near downtown. A few long-distance and most locally based companies use the Terminal de Buses Rurales (Riquelme 513).
Nearly all northbound services now use coastal Ruta 1, via Tocopilla, en route to Iquique and Arica. Companies that ply the north-south routes:

Megatur (450-819; Latorre) has micros to Mejillones every half-hour (US$2.10, one hour). Buses Fepstur (251-176; Latorre 2715; Terminal de Buses Rurales) and Buses Biaggini (623-451; Terminal de Buses Rurales) provide a slightly cheaper bus service (US$1.40) to Mejillones.
Géminis goes to Salta and Jujuy, Argentina, on Wednesday and Sunday at 7:30am (US$38, 14 hours).
Air
Lan (600-526-2000, option 8; Arturo Prat 445) has seven to 12 daily flights to Santiago (US$162 to US$279, two hours), as well as direct daily flights to Iquique (US$60 to US$107, 50 minutes), Calama (US$46 to US$63, 35 minutes), Copiapó (US$86 to US$157, one hour) and La Serena (US$121 to US$163, 1½ hours).
Sky (459-090; www.skyairline.cl; General Velasquez 890, Local 3) also flies to Iquique (US$55 to US$78, two daily), Arica (US$95, one daily) and Santiago (US$160, six daily), with connections to the south.
Aerolíneas del Sur (228-779; Washington 2548) has economical flights to Santiago (US$124) and Iquique (US$53).
