I came to an article about visisting the national parks on Easter Island;
"Rano Raraku is one of two national parks in the island (the other being Orongo National Park), so there’s a fee of $60 for both parks. Now, when I went there, Easter of 2015, there was an island-wide protest against the CONAF (Chilean National Parks Agency). Locals “kicked CONAF out” of the island and are now managing the parks. Locals are not asking for the payment of an entrance ticket, but they do ask you pay for a…
Traveling to Santiago for two days next week with my bf.. What should we see, do, eat? (I'm vegetarian) Staying in Bella Artes. Need to plan getting from the airport to where we are staying. How's the metro? So far we want to visit craft breweries, a vineyard, the funicular, market. What's good? We want to cover as much as we can in two days! Thanks in advance for any suggestions! Just started to plan this quick trip tonight.
Does anyone know the story behind the stone anchors displayed on the island of Chiloe ? The crafts markets sell miniature ones - the anchor stone is encased in wood and is a replica of the large one displayed near the market in the town of Achao.

I'm a dual US and mexican citizen at the same time. I visited Chile in November 2015 as a mexican citizen. I wasn't too crazy about paying the 23 usd reciprocity fee but since my plan was to enter Bolivia to visit Uyuni via San Pedro de Atacama (which is totally worth it) it was either pay a 23 reciprocity fee at Chile international airport or pay an entrance visa in Bolivia for 160 USD plus the exit stamp fee.
I'm going to visit Chile again in November 2016 but I don't know which passport to…
we are a couple and we are thinking about driving on the Carretera Austral for 4 days in November (as part of a 3 weeks Chile/Argentina Andes journey. But we are not sure yet if this is a good idea, so we kindly ask you for your advice.
We are planning to rent a car in Puerto Montt and return it there.We have already been in Chiloé, this is why this time, we want to travel via El Chaiten/Pumalín. We want to hike a lot.
1) Is it worth doing parts of the Carretera Austral in 4 days - or…
I will be traveling from arequipa to santiago in only 6 days. I would love to spend 2 or 3 nights in Valparaiso and 2 or 3 nights in a laidback beach village, preferably one to break the loong busride arica - santiago AND one that is on the route. Can anyone recommend me a nice sleepy village where I can walk around, swim and have some nice fish?
How difficult is the W Circuit and what is the terrain like? Is it steep uphill/downhill, climbing over boulders? I know it can get windy. I have done Annapurna (was a bit tough uphill) and thought Milford/Routeburn in NZ were ok. Anyone can give me any comparisons to these?
Hi, My wife and I have previously lived in several countries for a year at a time. Usually, we find it easier to exit and re-enter the country after the 3-month visit limit to extend our stay. We are now planning on living in Chile for a year. We know that the tourist visa is for 3 months, and you can extend it another 3 months for a fee, but what about after that. Can you exit the country and re-enter and start the process again. Or is this not allowed in Chile?
Thanks for any info.
