Getting there & away

Cucao is 54km from Castro and 34km west of Chonchi via a bumpy gravel road, passable in all but the most inclement weather. There is regular bus transportation between Castro and Cucao. Schedules vary, but there are usually four to five buses daily (US$4). Service from Chonchi tends to be sporadic, but there are more buses in the summer and it is possible to venture just out of town to the Panamericana and jump on a Cucao-bound bus.

Buses Mar Brava has three buses weekly from Ancud to Chepu, at the northern end of the park (US$1.25).
