Getting there & away
The Terminal de Buses (624-017; cnr Aníbal Pinto & Marcos Vera) is 20 or 30 minutes' walk east of downtown. A taxi to or from the terminal to Av Costanera in downtown costs US$1.50. Cruz del Sur (622-265) has the most departures to Chiloé's more southerly towns, with departures about every hour, and to cities on the Panamericana to the north, with three daily departures to Santiago. Many other bus companies have similar offerings. Queilen Bus(621-140) goes to Punta Arenas every Tuesday morning at 8:30am. However, travelers bound to most southerly regions beyond Chiloé and to Bariloche, Argentina, will do better to take buses from Puerto Montt.
Chiloé's more rural destinations are serviced by buses that leave across the street from the Esso gas station, about 100m from the corner of Montt and Prat. Buses Mar Brava (622-312), departing from a desolate area of Aníbal Pinto, has three buses weekly to Chepu, near the northern end of Parque Nacional Chiloé (US$1.25).
