Day 1 Transfer from Prague to Cesky Krumlov
Transfer from Prague to Cesky Krumlov (175km), free time for sightseeing in Cesky Krumlov, one of Europe’s best preserved medieval towns.
Day 2 Cycle to the Renaissance town of Trebon (61km)
The first cycling day leads through the beautiful hilly landscape surrounding Cesky Krumlov. As you near the Trebon area, the trail gradient begins to level off. A scenic ride through a picturesque landscape ends in Renaissance town of Trebon, also well-known as a major spa resort. In Trebon you can visit the Schwarzenberg Tomb.
Day 3 Follow the Greenways trail through Nova Bystrice to Telc (78km)
Optional tour of Trebon chateau in the morning. The trail winds past many ponds and man-made lakes, typical of this region, to Perslak, the most northern point of Austria. You follow the border with Austria on the Greenways trail passing through Nova Bystrice. From Nova Bystrice the trail takes you through the forests of the National Park called Czech Canada. The day ends in Telc, a Renaissance town registered on the UNESCO Cultural Heritage List. Houses on the main square in Telc, with facades decorated with typically renaissance graffiti, form the best-preserved Renaissance square in the Czech Republic.
Day 4 Gentle cycle through South Moravia to Vranov (54km)
Optional tour of Telc chateau in the morning. Todays cycle takes you through several charming villages typical for this area of the country. We will cycle gently through the region of South Moravia. We will stay overnight in Vranov which is situated near a dam.
Day 5 Follow the river Dyje Znojmo, the gateway to the wine growing region (38km)
Cycling on the Greenways trail the route takes you alongside the river Dyje and next to the southern Czech border with Austria. This very beautiful trail leads through the national park of Dyje to Znojmo, the gateway to the wine producing region of South Moravia.
Day 6 Past cellar doors to Mikulov with its castle and historic square (70km)
This flatland region is a traditional vine-growing area and there are many wine cellars. We continue the cycle to arrive in Mikulov, a town with a rich history, a beautiful castle and an historical square. Check-in to your hotel in late afternoon, leisure time in the evening.
Day 7 Cycle into Austria and transfer to Vienna (25/48/96km)
You cross the border at the Mikulov border Checkpoint and the rest of the day is spent in Austria. The ride in Austria is, to begin, very similar to the Czech section. There are vineyards, fields and small villages along the trail. Experienced bikers can reach the Vienna hotel by bike. Otherwise we recommend finishing the cycling part of the trail in Poysdorf (25 km) or in Mistelbach (48 km) and travelling by car or minibus to Vienna. Note: It should be agreed on in advance whether you want to cycle all the way to Vienna or where you will meet the driver who will take you to Vienna.
Day 8 Trip concludes Vienna
The tour ends after breakfast in Vienna.
