Lobster House
Renowned for its pink gnocchi in a parmesan cream and its signature lobster dishes, this congenial outdoor spot’s brick oven has brought it the status of best pizzeria in town – if you need proof, try the Queen Aragosta pizza with lobster tails. Many, however, come for a cup of what is arguably the best espresso on the island, made from the proprietor’s vintage 1961 Faema espresso machine.

Best of a scanty choice of restaurants in Marina Hemingway and billing itself as the best pizza joint in Habana, Pizza Nova is a great place to end up after an all-day fishing or diving outing. Otherwise the pepperoni (which is allegedly imported from Canada) isn’t worth the 20km journey to get here

Paladar El Piccolo
This paladar is considered by many Habaneros to be the best pizza restaurant in Cuba, and they’re not far wrong. Out of the way and a little more expensive than Playas del Este’s other numerous pizza joints, it’s well worth the walk.

At the gateway to the peninsula stands one of the town’s best pizza and pasta restaurants, a cheap, no-nonsense place where atmosphere is lively and the food comes fast. Skip the chicken, beef and fish dishes and go with the Italian fare.

The town’s best restaurant is an easy-to-miss place on the outskirts of town that does a good trade in capturing coach parties on their way to and from the Che memorial. There are some classy lunchtime bands here, though the highlight is generally considered to be the cheap but tasty pizza (from CUC$4).
