Located right next to the Hotel Monopol, this hotel is of a similar ilk; it's one of the town's most headily historic buildings, dating back to 1712. It has retained an old-fashioned feel with oodles of charm and elderly staff.
There's not much to choose between the Marquesa and its neighbour, the Monopol, except that this hotel is a mite cheaper and also has a statelier feel with dark, heavy wood furnishings, beams and balconies. The central patio has retained its superb black-and-white chequered floor and the bar has a real English-pub feel, aside from the palms in pots. There's a lovely dining terrace overlooking the street (check out the nightly live music). The rooms have a mildly disappointing modern feel, but the lovely terraces make up for that; and the rooftop pool and solarium are seriously five-star for the price.
