Lonely Planet review for Osteria da Andrea

This sophisticated Italian restaurant has an arty, minimalist interior and daily-changing menu; the sign of an innovative chef. Each day's menu usually includes a risotto and unusual pizza among the dishes, such as the delicious berenjena al parmesano (aubergine with parmesan cheese). There's a tapas bar out front.

Just like in Italy, save for the food

    txemi recommends this,

In La Laguna´s rennaisance-style historic centre, at the former "game alley", where hunters and poachers used to sell their foul-smelling game pieces, nestled between St..Catherine´s convent the ever-under-reform neoclassic Cathedral, lays a cosy Italian restaurant: La Osteria de Andrea.
This little gem has a nice unpretentious decoration and a comfy setting, thanks to the owners´ clever use of the former rear patio and adjacent rooms of this old Canarian townhouse.
One comes with high hopes at this place, wishing to find a little bit of Italy. The food, alas, does not quite meet the expectations. There are a few very nice seafood pasta dishes like "Spaghetti al nero di Sepia", rich, tasty and gleaming black from the squid´s ink. Unfortunately the starters (bruschetta), desserts (tiramisu, panna cotta) and other entrees, though correct, well set and promptly served by a friendly and eager service, do not quite reach the quality standard of an average Italian trattoria.
Nevertheless, if you happen to be strolling along the wide and straight cobblestone streets of this beautyful UNESCO site and want to experience something apart from the hearty Canarian cuisine, La Osteria de Andrea offers 3-course lunch menus at very good prices. Provided, of course, you are not very fussy with the food!
