Paragliding is quickly gaining momentum here; aficionados come from throughout Europe to take advantage of the island’s ideal conditions and easy take-off and landing sites. Arrange for a tandem glide with Palmaclub, who are based inside the Kiosco Playa Morena. Prices are based on how big a cliff (250m or 950m) you choose to throw yourself off.

After getting your fill of the craters, check out the town’s other claim to fame: the wines made in this volcanic soil. The largest winery in town is Bodegas Teneguía, with white, red and sweet wines that are sold all over the island and beyond. There’s also a good restaurant in the winery.
