Introducing Ingenio & Agüimes
A short bus ride south of Telde brings you to the towns of Ingenio and Agüimes, separated from each other by the Barranco de Guayadeque. Ingenio is best known for its ceramics but, otherwise, is a plain Jane compared to its neighbour.

The historic centre of Agüimes is one of the most perfectly restored and prettiest on the island; so much so that the mega-luxury hotel Villa del Conde in Maspalomas is a pastiche of the old town centre. Agüimes’ helpful tourist office (928 12 41 83; www.aguimes.es; Plaza de San Antón 1; Mon-Fri 8am-3pm) has plenty of local information.
