Galley Patio & Grill
This is a terrific, unfussy perch at sunset, with its stunning views across the beach toward English Bay. Plop down in one of the plastic patio chairs (reservations are not accepted, so arrive early for the vista) then eyeball all the sailboats steering toward shore. The food is of the house-made comfort-food variety, with seafood dominating. It’s a popular spot for fish-and-chips, but even better for halibut tacos and an ice-cream-cone chaser. There are usually a couple of BC wine offerings, along with some tasty local brews from R&B Brewing (the Sun God Wheat Ale is a recommended summer quaff).

Stanley’s Park Bar & Grill
Overlooking the gardens and the Malkin Bowl outdoor theater, this casual summer-only resto-bar in the Tudor-style pavilion building has the park’s biggest outdoor patio, although the view is dense forest rather than rippling seafront. A comfort-food menu that mirrors the Prospect Point Café (they share the same owner) means everything from burgers to steaks as well as a good range of Whistler Brewing beers and cocktail slushies. This is a good spot for a relaxing drink at the end of your park visit.

DB Bistro Moderne
Formerly Feenies, this transformed French-influenced contemporary bistro serves the city’s best posh burger: a $28 bulging combination of sirloin patty and black truffles that couldn’t be further from a Big Mac. The menu is brimming with additional comfort-food pleasures like coq au vin and the excellent Berkshire pork tenderloin, while the weekend brunch highlight is a delicious lobster eggs Florentine that lures the esurient locals. Also look out here for regular good value prix-fixe deals.

Prospect Point Café
A typical family-style tourist eatery and takeout with an attractive forest-surrounded patio deck, this is the place most Stanley Park visitors end up eating at. The takeout includes all the usual menu suspects (think burgers, hot dogs and chicken strips), while the seated patio cafe adds slightly overpriced salmon, steak and fish-and-chips mains along with a full bar.
