Similar to the nearby Robsonstrasse, Riviera and Tropicana, the Greenbrier has been transformed from an apartment building into a hotel offering mostly one-bedroom suites with kitchenettes and a great downtown location.
A good-value option compared to other hotels across the city, the Greenbrier was in the middle of a renovation during my visit. Don't expect much to change though since this mostly consisted of a scrubdown of existing facilities and the addition of an ill-advised stucco façade in an attempt to dress up the building's drab frontage. Inside, the rooms - decorated with clean, 1980s-style furnishings - are comfortable and generally spacious, although the corridor off the lobby can be noisy. The main attraction is the Greenbrier's appeal to groups: guests beyond the first two in any room can stay for an extra C$10.00 each per night. The hotel has also added some new services to compete with nearby properties, including in-room irons and seniors rates.
