Lit up by a classic neon sign calling you in from the cold, rooms at the Burrard Motor Inn, like all motels, are not for spending a lot of time in. While the facilities are basic, the central location is excellent and the price is right.

If you want that old-school motel ambiance but don't want to drive out into the sticks, the Burrard Motor Inn is the place for you. A bit past its kitsch-cool prime - the superb 1960s neon sign outside is the property's best feature - rooms here are, nevertheless, clean and functional, if a little worn. Ranged around a Florida-like courtyard of old palm trees, the property offers a surprising enclave of calm from busy Burrard St. All rooms have TVs, basic faded furnishings and 1970s-style coloured bathroom suites: it may look obsolete but everything works fine. The front desk staff are gracious and accommodating so make sure you ask them for a room with a kitchenette they don't cost extra. The free parking is also a popular draw.
