Lonely Planet review for Charlatan

Reinventing the old Bukowski’s bar, the charming Charlatan has quickly become a Drive favorite. In summer the windows are flung open and the tiny patio is crowded, while in winter it becomes a cozy joint to watch the game or just chat in a corner. The hearty food covers a wide array of comfort dishes, while the 20-strong draft beer selection runs the gamut from Strongbow to Sleemans. Food-wise, go with the pulled pork burger or brisket sandwich.

    Great Appies

    meiketravels recommends this,

This pub offers a great variety - whether you want to hang out at the bar and watch a game and laugh with the coolest barkeeper ever or take a seat with up to 7 friends at the quieter tables in the lower part of the place (yes there is! although you wouldn't guess if you just pass by) or in the summer have a cool beer on the patio canopied by willow trees, it's all there.
They have a fantastic beer selection and we usually share a few appetizers, my favourite are Tuna Bites, and Trio of Frits which is a gigantic pile of yam, sweet potato and regular ol' fries. For those of you on a shoestring, take a burger and beer deal: for around 10 bucks you can get a pint and a really solid burger, some with gourmet ingredients that are really well made.
I love the cow bell the kitchen uses to signal the staff that food is ready to be served. "We need more cowbell!" I wonder if Will Farrell ever was at the Charlatan!
