Granville Island Brewing information
One of Canada's oldest microbreweries offers 30-minute tours where smiling guides walk you through the tiny brewing nook, established in the olden days of 1984. The brewery has grown exponentially since then and most of its beers are now made off-site, although some tasty small-batch brews are still made here on the island. The tour concludes with three samples in the Taproom .
You can also buy some takeout in the adjoining store; aim for the single bottles of small-batch beers since they're not easily available anywhere else. Need a souvenir for a beer fan back home? This is also a good spot to buy branded ball caps, T-shirts and bottle openers. The island is also home to another brewery, a distillery and even a sake maker so it is a good destination for a compact booze crawl.
