A Tale of 2 Players - #2
Blog: Louise Heal - 11 November 2009
Wayne Gretzky, on the other hand, needs no introduction.OK, that's such a lie. Of course I'd never heard of him. What do you think I am, some sort of sports freak? The first time the name ever passed into my consciousness was when we were planning the trip and Simon mentioned Wayne Gretzky's as somewhere we might eat one evening. So we did - on Friday night we had a pleasant meal there, browsed some memorabilia and I didn't really think very much of it.

A Tale of 2 Players - #1
Blog: Louise Heal - 11 November 2009
You know how sometimes you get to a new place, switch on the TV and there's an advert that just keeps on popping up? So it was with us in Toronto. We'd only been there a few hours and we'd already seen the advert for Tim Horton's and their French Onion Soup ($2.59) half a dozen times.

Toronto: Top 5 Family-Friendly Excursions
Blog: Ciao Bambino! - 12 October 2009
Toronto is fun, Toronto is clean, and (in spite of what Vancouverites might say! ;), Toronto is friendly. As a native Torontonian, I can think of no better place to live and raise my kids, and my transplanted Westerner-of-a-husband begrudgingly agrees. Summer is hot and humid, spring and fall are typically lovely. Our winters can be quite harsh, but there’s usually no major snow on the ground until December, so as long as you’re bundled you can still enjoy the outdoors. There’s plenty to enjoy indoors anyway!

My Home Town, Toronto for Matador U
Blog: Canada's Adventure Couple - 9 October 2009
I will never forget that beautiful winters day in 1991. Dave and I were graduating from college and we were moving to Toronto together from the town of Oakville. I was a small town girl growing up in Otterville. Dave was my big city hero raised Burlington Ontario. We fell in love with Toronto’s West end that day and 18 years later we are still here

When Toronto meets Istanbul
Blog: EZGuler - 12 September 2009
Just like a carefully woven, ornate Turkish kilim, Toronto has been blessed with the colourful woolen threads of diversity. People from all over the world collide as they call this zestfully dynamic city of lights their home. In a sense, to know this city, is to know the world. So much of our daily life, our reality and what we love about our city parallel what other people three thousand kilometers away from here love and enjoy about their own cities. In a way, we are experiencing a different version of the same moments.

Wildlife Wednesday; The Wolves of Haliburton Forest
Blog: Canada's Adventure Couple - 19 August 2009
About 3 hours north of Toronto way up in Central Ontario is one of our favorite places in the Province. Haliburton forest is a nature lovers dream. A place for hiking, mountain biking and canoeing in the summer and cross country skiing and dog sledding in the winter. But it is the Haliburton Forest Wild Life and Reserve that has kept us coming back.

Ta-rah Toronto
Blog: Send The Bugger Back - 8 June 2009
I’m just on route to see my Great Aunt via the ‘Go Train’. Will be good to see a McDuff. Next best thing to a Bowen in my book (sorry Del!). I think I’ll have a look about Little Italy later and will do the CN Tower tonight. Other than that I’m all out of ideas [...]

Pasta la vista
Blog: Send The Bugger Back - 7 June 2009
I decided to get some cans in and just knock about the hostel last night but there is a distinct lack of off licenses about in Toronto and the duff (get it?) directions the miserable girl at reception had given me didn’t help. So I thought sod it and went to see ‘Drag Me To [...]

I can see where hits came from for this site if a link was followed (say from my Facebook status or something). So I was curious when I saw a few from the MySpace music page of The 2nd St. Rag Stompers (one of the good bands I saw busking at the festival in Seattle). [...]

Happy Holidays! Niagara Chills
Blog: Bec and John in the UK - 8 January 2009
Seeing as Niagara Falls is a mere 120 kilometres from Toronto, we decided to take one of the many coach tours available from downtown to check out this famous spot. A little bit of research had already uncovered that the Maid Of The Mist (the boat which takes you right up to the foot of the waterfall) does not operate in the winter - but it still looked like a good day out, and had been recommended to us as a "must-do" while in Ontario.
