Lonely Planet review
Built in 1971 on three artificial islands offshore from Exhibition Place, this 40-hectare recreation complex is an easy way to beat the summer heat. It is starting to feel a little dated, but Ontario Place still offers something for everybody. A 'Play All Day' pass gets you to most of the rides and attractions, including Soak City waterpark and walk-up seating at the Cinesphere, where 70mm IMAX films screen on a six-storey curved screen.
Parents watch a movie while kids go berserk at soft-play areas like the H2O Generation Station and the Atom Blaster. Additional attractions like the human-sized MegaMaze and House of Blues concerts at the Molson Amphitheatre must be paid for separately. Discounted passes may be available after and for grounds-only admission. On rainy days, many of the rides, activities and restaurants shut up shop. The shuttle bus runs daily from June to August and weekends in May and September departing every half-hour between and .
