Lonely Planet review for Saffron Tree
Readers rave about Saffron Tree, an unmissable saffron-hued bastion of spicy delight in the dull hospital wastelands north of Dundas St. Service is utterly polite, and classics like butter chicken and lamb vindaloo won't let you down. There's a 10% discount if you want to get take-out and impress your hotel's management with curry aromas.

a great find!
magicalcynic recommends this,
As mentioned above, this little restaurant is incongruously located in the middle of hospital-land. It seems unlikely that any normal traveller would stumble upon it by accident (unless faced with the misfortune of having to visit one of the hospitals) but it is a great find and well worth a visit if you're in this part of town.
Regular menu options are uniformly tasty and you get good portions. But, the buffet dinner at $12.99 is a steal of a deal. With plenty of veg & non-veg options, naan made fresh for your table and a great variety of crunchy fresh salads, it's worth a lot more. Wash it all down with a delicious imported Indian beer and hungry travellers can't go wrong.
However - a point must be made about the tired and dated decor! It's a pretty sad looking place even though (as is often the case) the food is a delight. Don't go trying to impress your friends by taking them here, unless they're foodies hoping for a good curry outside of Toronto's Little India.
