Lonely Planet review for Wanda's Pie in the Sky
Be prepared for flexibility when ordering, since daily specials advertising a healthy half-sandwich with soup or salad ($7) sell out faster than you can get in the door. A sugar rush is guaranteed by one of Wanda's fantastical dessert creations, maybe a slice of Ontario sour cherry or Niagara peach pie.

Worst Service EVER... and from the owner no less!
westcoastgu78 does not recommend this,
My wife and I enjoy visiting Kensington Market on a regular basis due to the variety of authentic, cultural eating establishments. They offer gourmet burger joints, Burritos houses, places for Churros and desserts, Empanada's, plus fine dining bistros just to name a few.
All of our experiences have been great, except for our recent stop at Wanda's Pie in the Sky dessert shop. We have often stopped by here due to their wide variety of pies and desserts they offer. Although Wanda’s is highly over priced, they are quite tasty and have a good selection.
That said; our last visit was EXTREMELY disappointing. We had purchased a voucher for the store through Wag Jag (the #1 coupon company in Toronto) which Wanda's Pie shop had partnered with. That said the owner of the shop decided on the second last day of the voucher that he would no longer accept them after 6pm (although the shop was still open till 8pm). He simply put a piece of paper on the door written in marker stating they were no longer accepting the voucher. My wife had called in advance to confirm what time they were open till, which the owner advised till 8pm, but when my wife advised that we were coming with the voucher he said they were not accepting them after 6pm, my wife enquired why as we had already paid for it and there was no mention on the voucher of any time limit restrictions, plus she did not get off work till 5:30pm and it would be difficult to get there in time. His response was that he makes the rules and proceeded to hang up on her.
Upon arriving at Wanda's Pie in the Sky right at 6pm we found the make shift sign on the door and several people in line being turned away. When we and several others asked to speak to the manager, we were greeted by the owner who instead of trying to find an alternative or at least explain a legitament reason why he was not accepting the vouchers, he instead told us off saying "you had 5 months to use these, so too bad, it's your own fault". We responded that these vouchers were valid for two more days and we specifically waited until now as we wanted to purchase their pies for our New Year’s gathering. He again was VERY rude with us and told us “too bad, take it up with Wag Jag” and refused to refund us or even talk to us further as well as the other customers whom were very upset at his tone and mistreatment.
We went onto explained that we were regular customers and loved their pies and didn’t understand why they would not accept our vouchers since we have already paid for them and they were still valid. He then went on to tell us and the other customers if we were not going to buy anything with cash to get out... We once again stated “we are loyal customers” to their establishment and the Kensington Market and don't understand this mistreatment. Many customers eating seem quite embarrassed at the owner’s temperament. We mentioned that we will be sure to spread the news of our "great" customer service online, as we don't want to see other people get mistreated like this as well. His response was “good for you, we don’t need your business, as you can see we’re doing just fine”...
At this point I politely asked for his business card, which he was about to give me until he asked what I wanted it for; I explained that I wanted to have the correct details before I posted our experience online. Then he exclaimed, "if that's why you want it, then I'm not giving you my card", which appeared very childish as one customer mentioned... I said fine, I'm sure the details I and your other customers have will be sufficient. As I went to leave he then decided that my online posting might be bad for business and actually offered me $40 cash, but only if I promised not to post anything online. When I said, I didn't want his money he offered me free food, but I once again declined as I feel it is more important for people to know the truth about this establishment.
