Fressen

Located in the heart of Stylishly Bohemian Queen Street West, Fressen is a great - but not cheap - place to start your evening on the town. For more budget conscious vegan food seekers, consider Fressen's sister cafe Urban Herbivore, located in Kensington Market. Same owner, same world view - whole new menu.

I am a huge fan of vegetarian and vegan restaurants (although I am actually neither), but I find they are usually more lunch appropriate, and not really nice enough for an upscale dinner experience.  
Fressen has the food I love with a great romantic atmosphere to match.  I highly recommend the salads to start, as they look like works of art! 
The food takes a little while to come out, but the wait is more than worth it and you can really see (and taste) the care put in to every dish.  I also recommend sharing 3 or 4 items between two people, as you will want to try to taste as many dishes as possible, and the portions are perect for splitting and nibbling with a few glasses of wine.
