This thread is intended to contain information useful to people travelling to Canada - please feel free to add anything relevant to it! Before we start though, here's some advice from the TT team:

  1. Do a TT search! At least five posters a week ask what to do in Toronto, whether to go visit Niagara Falls on their way around the world, and whether it's possible to work under the table/overstay a tourist visa. The road is well travelled. Find those threads, add a reply (which brings the…

We would like to drive through Canada and then down to the states and stop at one or two spots and camp over night on the way. Any suggestions on where to camp on the way and where to camp / what to do / see / what to bring/ must see's is so appreciated!

We're excited!

I need any recommendation on place to stay at. It's a large group 6 adults and 7 kids (1-10). I read that the best place to enjoy the city is in Old Quebec. Any suggestions on hotels, rentals, B&B places? I would like it to have a pool for kids. But I'm open... We 'll be there from Jul 13-15. Something not to expensive but nice. We would the Chateau Frontenac but is way out of out budget. Pls advise asap.

Dear Thorntree,

My situation is as follows. I will fly into Calgary in about 3 weeks time, and I have to be in the city for a few days. I then have two weeks or so where I am completely free, before I have to be back in Calgary. I'm looking for ideas on how to spend this time. I don't know anyone in Calgary. I won't have a car, and my overwhelmingly main concern is to spend little money.

Ideally, I would like to find a cheap room in Calgary that I can rent for 2 and a half weeks or so, but I…

Hi travellers
Saw quite a few post on western Canada but thought to ask anyway. My wife and I are going 3 weeks to Canada for our honey moon in September. We are flying to Calgary and heading back from Vancouver.

We are normally not planning much ahead when travelling but are always very thankful for hinds and suggestion of great places to see and stay. We also saw that there are quite a few hot springs around - any ones you can recommend?

What we were wondering is if in September reservations…

Hey travellers,

I've both lived and traveled in Montreal a few times, and I've taken discovering the local food scene there pretty seriously, and I figured I would start sharing my knowledge with locals and travellers alike. Here are a few posts I wrote on where to get some seriously good food in town:

For local food: Montreal's Must Eats
For cuisine you'd normally need to get on a plane to try: Montreal's Ethnic Must Eats
For vegetarians and vegans: Montreal's Vegetarian Must Eats

I hope you…
