12 Inspiring Tourism Videos on Canada
Blog: i Backpack Canada - 25 April 2012
The other day I came across Travel Alberta’s incredible award-winning (Remember to Breathe) tourism video, which somehow or another brought me to browsing the videos of every provincial & territorial tourism board. It’s great to see how much thought and passion goes into each of these videos, and what better way to explore a location [...]12 Inspiring Tourism Videos on Canada is a post from: I Backpack Canada

The Best Poutine I’ve Ever Had – Chez Ashton’s in Quebec City
Blog: i Backpack Canada - 4 April 2012
I eat a fair amount of poutine. Not like daily or anything, that would be dangerous. Foolish even. (Plus poutine goes right to my thighs) To me, poutine is something you indulge in every once in a while. A brief meal (typically enjoyed inebriated) to remind you and those around you about your thoughts on [...]The Best Poutine I’ve Ever Had – Chez Ashton’s in Quebec City is a post from: I Backpack Canada

T’ire D’érable – Why aren’t you everywhere?
Blog: i Backpack Canada - 28 March 2012
One of my fondest memories of taking french immersion was back in Grade 4 or 5. I was living in Saskatchewan and we had a teacher intern from Quebec who was sharing french culture to classrooms throughout the school. Most of us moaned at the thought of learning about anything cultural. That was until she [...]T’ire D’érable – Why aren’t you everywhere? is a post from: I Backpack Canada

A Weekend in Quebec City for Red Bull Crashed Ice
Blog: i Backpack Canada - 21 March 2012
Crashed Ice has sparked my curiosity for years. The speed and grace of hockey, the agility of ski cross, and the obstacle course like adrenaline rush you would only expect to find in a military training facility. Quebec City was no fluke choice destination for this event, it’s narrow streets and steep hills make it seem [...]A Weekend in Quebec City for Red Bull Crashed Ice is a post from: I Backpack Canada

Supreme sugar-shacking: Au Pied de Cochon
Blog: See Simi Travel Blog - 27 February 2012
Sugar shacking is an important part of Quebec culture. So a sugar shack hosted by Quebec's award winning chef Martin Picard is undoubtedly pure magic. Reservations are made by e-mail only, 4 months in advance. Rumour has it that the seats sell out within the first hour.

6 Moments In Time That Make Me Ashamed To Be Canadian
Blog: i Backpack Canada - 15 February 2012
Canada has an uncanny ability to be painted as a picturesque, romantic, eco-conscious and friendly nation. A nation filled with a mosaic of peoples, languages, cultures, and traditions. A nation where recycling is the norm, where people hold doors open for others, where assassins use pies instead of bullets, and where you can find a [...]6 Moments In Time That Make Me Ashamed To Be Canadian is a post from: I Backpack Canada

A Foodie’s Love Letter to Montreal
Blog: Around The World On The Toilet - 18 October 2011
Of all the lists describing the great culinary countries, you would be hard pressed to ever come across one that include Canada. While pasta is synonymous with Italy, rich creamy sauces with the French, Canada has…. maple syrup? Thankfully this is not the case and one Canadian city that sets the bench mark for Canadian [...]

Sunday Canadian Travel Video – French Poutine is Awesome!
Blog: i Backpack Canada - 28 August 2011
Mmmm poutine… Perhaps it’s the beers from last night talking, but this Sunday seems like the perfect opportunity to stare and drool over Canada’s greasiest meal, La Poutine. Fries, cheese curds, and gravy. Three incredible ingredients which together make for one of the tastiest artery clogging meals.

Come Drink Molson at Ontario, Eh
Blog: Broke-Ass Stuart's Goddamn Website - 17 January 2011
Bar shticks are pretty easy to come up with. Basically it involves having a thought and then putting that into a bar. Skee ball, Bulgaria, and country clubs for poor people have all been done and done again. Throwing its hat into the ring is the veritable theme of America’s wide brimmed hat, Canada, at [...] Related posts:Hey Hosers!

Can't afford Europe? Quebec City is a hop, skip and jump away
Blog: Travel Adventures of Newman - 22 December 2010
If you're bemoaning the weakness of the US dollar vis-a-vis the Euro, unwilling to endure the enhanced TSA "pat down" molestation, or your inner Francophile is itching to parler Francais, then consider a quick getaway to the walled, UNESCO World Heritage site of Quebec City.

Daily Travel Photo – Quebec City, Quebec
Blog: Everything Everywhere - 10 December 2010
From the World Heritage inscription: Québec was founded by the French explorer Champlain in the early 17th century. It is the only North American city to have preserved its ramparts, together with the numerous bastions, gates and defensive works which still surround Old Québec. The Upper Town, built on the cliff, has remained the religious [...]

Charlevoix
Blog: See Simi Travel Blog - 8 November 2010
Born and raised in Montreal, I have been conditioned to believe that I have originated from the best place in Canada, quite possibly the world. Being an English-speaking Montrealer (or “Anglo”) on top of it all, it was rare that I would venture out of the safe compounds of this remaining English enclave. The sole exception to that rule, was a nice overnight trip to Quebec City. However, I had always been curious about the whale watching tours of Eastern Quebec, and one long-weekend I decided to give it a chance.
