This thread is intended to contain information useful to people travelling to Canada - please feel free to add anything relevant to it! Before we start though, here's some advice from the TT team:
Do a TT search! At least five posters a week ask what to do in Toronto, whether to go visit Niagara Falls on their way around the world, and whether it's possible to work under the table/overstay a tourist visa. The road is well travelled. Find those threads, add a reply (which brings the…
A friend and I are planning to go to Canada on the "working holiday" international experience visa (we are both mid 20s Australians).
On doing the application we noticed it said we need to submit a police report from any country we have lived in for more than 6 months - my friend lived in the US for a few years, and when she applied for her police check from the FBI, she was told it would be approx 14-16 weeks....
We are planning to head to Canada in 3 weeks - just wondering if anyone…
We (2 adults) will be spending 12 days in the rockies (arriving in Calgary on May 30th early afternoon and leaving on June 11th late in the afternoon).
We love nature and hiking, are decently fit and experienced hikers (25km/15mi, 1000m/3300ft vertical drop sounds like a good day hike, a bit more is manageable every now and then if really worth it). We have no experience in backcountry hiking but would like to try a 2-days backcountry hiking trip if possible.
Reading guidebooks and…
I am taking an extended leave from June to September. I will be driving up the East Coast of the US to Nova Scotia. Then over to Quebec City. I need to be in Omaha, Nebraska 2 weeks after I leave Quebec City. My one question at this time is, what is there to do between Ottawa and Winnipeg?
I like hiking and all things in nature. I will be driving.
My family and I are planning to visit Canada this summer. We start our holiday in Toronto and we will be staying in a hotel near the airport. We hope to take a day trip to Niagara falls and I'm just looking at our options. There are 5 of us and the advertised tours which include hotel pick up, though convenient, would cost a considerable amount given that there are 5 of us. Our hotel will offer a free shuttle bus to the airport we can take the train to downtown Toronto. We…
20 Days stay in Canada with the intention to see maximum possible cities and/or must see places. Minimum flights (that too cheap ones) and travel by bus and train. Toronto and Quebec are must rest left to convenience. Stay, most probably will be with hosts, still guidance on hostels/cheap hotels will be appreciated. End destination to be a city (other than Toronto as that is going to be the first one) from where I can take flight for Shinghai (China). Journey time will be mid September. Visit is…
I have double nationality.
I have a 2 year visa on one of my passeports, which expires 1 month before my actual plain ticket out of Canada.
Before its expiry I will be taking a trip to the US.
I was thinking of filling a request for an eTA on my other passport. Would that be legal?
Or would it be possible to prolong my original visa when reentering from the USA, without applying online?
Planning a trip to see the rockies and dinosaurs! 2 adults. Interested in wildlife photography. Not hikers! Here's my plan -
Day 1 - Vancouver to Revelstoke
Day 2 Revelstoke to Jasper (stay Jasper 2 nights)
Day 3 Jasper
4 - Icefields to Lake Louise
5/6 Calgary (have friends there)
7 - Brooks Alberta. Dinosaur park
9 Calgary airport
10fly home early morning.
Is this a sensible plan?
I will be camping in NF and Lab. For a few weeks Mid August through early Sept.
Does anyone know if there are places where my tent stakes will go in smoothly, or are sites pretty rocky.
Any suggestions for camping in the most scenic of areas?
