Ice Hotel Quebec-Canada
Address
Lonely Planet review
Open from early January to April every year, this hotel shimmers on the south side of Lac St Joseph and is made entirely from ice: the rooms, the bar, the cocktail glasses, the reception desk, the sinks…
The Ice Hotel changes its layout every year and staying here alone is worth the trip to Québec City. There's an ice chapel for winter weddings and a chill dance floor for late night partying. The ice beds are stacked with deer pelts and are not as cold as they look. The staff bring guests a hot drink in the morning to help lure them out of bed. Toilets are the welcome exception to the 'all-ice' rule: Heated 'non-iced' facilities are located nearby, easily accessible from within the hotel. All room rates include a buffet breakfast and a variety of package deals are available. The 'Romantic' deal gets you a room bedecked with candles and other goodies, and 'Winter Adventure' includes a dog sledding session.
