This thread is intended to contain information useful to people travelling to Canada - please feel free to add anything relevant to it! Before we start though, here's some advice from the TT team:

  1. Do a TT search! At least five posters a week ask what to do in Toronto, whether to go visit Niagara Falls on their way around the world, and whether it's possible to work under the table/overstay a tourist visa. The road is well travelled. Find those threads, add a reply (which brings the…

Ok, to start I know there is no wrong answer here! I just cannot decide so am looking for opinions :).

I am going out to Halifax for 5 days in August with some friends- I lived there for 6 years but have not been back for 5 years so am very excited to go visit friends and such. I also saw a lot of NS while I lived there and loved it, but didn't get to do much hiking or camping, more visiting small towns and road trips with airbnbs, all the main sights like peggsy cove, lunenburg, mahone bay…

Hi myself and my partner are 30 and 33.

We are looking for opportunities to work in Cananda?

We are too old for Bunac now but wondering if there are any other options. Maybe a ski season... Are there any companies people can recommend?

I am a designer and photographer. She is a primary school teacher.

Hey all!

Looking for the most beautiful and inexpensive (free=amazing!) spots to park my Westy on Vancouver Island.
Also looking for groups/forums/websites that cater to stealth camping and boon docking in Canada.
Thanks in advance!

Hi all,

Will be spending a week in and around Banff NP next week. Hoping to backpack from Sunshine Meadows to Mt. Assiniboine and hike out through Mt. Shark trailhead, but are trying to avoid having to book a rental car and leave it at the trailhead. Is anyone aware of any shuttle services that might take us from the trailhead into Canmore? It sounds like its a fairly busy trail; would it be unreasonable to hope to catch a ride with other hikers? I can't seem to find out how far the trailhead…

The only shuttle company I can find (Skyport) only operates in winter. Does anyone know of another shuttle service? Or another affordable transport option? Is uber an option from the Montreal airport? Thanks!

Hi,

I just wanted to get some tips and ideas for my upcoming trip to Canada. I will be attending a wedding at Qualicum beach start of august, and will stay at the island from the 3rd to the 14th. After that I will fly Victoria - Kelowna, rent a car and do the Okanagan valley two nights before driving up to Jasper (the back way passing Mt Robson). I have one night in Jasper and then one night in Saskatchewan River crossing. I then have two nights at Emerald Lake Lodge before heading back to…

Hello, I'm a U.S. citizen that's lived and worked in Canada for the past 20 years. I have my Canadian Permanent Resident (PR) card, but just moved to California to explore school and job prospects. I would however like to keep my Canadian PR in case studying and working in the U.S. doesn't work out.

Question is, does studying/working in the U.S., obtaining a California driver's license and/or opening a U.S. bank account place my Canadian PR status at any risk? My understanding of the…
