Lonely Planet review for Abraham’s Bus Tour
To get your bearings at Battlefields Park consider the 40-minute Abraham’s Bus Tour around the park. An actor in period costume points out historical sites of interest and throws in some colorful asides. It departs from the Discovery Pavilion, the main gateway to Battlefields Park, which houses a museum as well as the excellent Québec City tourist office, Centre Infotouriste.

Five-day Raft Guide Camp & Multi-sport Adventures just for
dirkperry does not recommend this,
As teenagers get older, many lose interest in traditional camps. The dilemma becomes what to do for that week or two in the summer that has always been set aside for your teenager’s favourite camp.
Recognizing a need, the Kumsheen Rafting Resort established two five-day outdoor, activity-oriented sessions specifically for teenagers – both guys and gals - aged 14 – 17 years.
The multi-sport camp is just that – five days with a different activity every day. Activities include rock climbing/rappelling, whitewater rafting in both paddle and power rafts, a mountain bike ride, and a day running whitewater on the Thompson River in a kayak.
For every activity, specialized equipment is needed and provided. Kumsheen Rafting Resort supplies everything - the rock climbing and rappelling gear; the river rafts, lifejackets, helmets, paddles; sit-on-top kayaks; mountain bikes – everything necessary for a safer experience when river rafting in BC.
One of the favourite side benefits for teenagers are the friendships made during the five-days with Kumsheen. Another huge benefit is the self-confidence gained when mastering a new skill, especially one as exciting as Thompson river rafting
Although no previous skill or experience is required to be part of these camps, it is essential that every participant be a good swimmer. It is a mandatory requirement for the Raft Guide Camp as all the activities are water-based.
Kumsheen staff provides instruction for each activity so no prior expertise or training is needed. Every evening there is a campout, an exploratory trip, or a game at the resort. The focus is on keeping the teens active for five days through a combination of recreational activities like Thompson river rafting.
Hearty meals from dinner on the first day are included in the fare. Most are served in Kumsheen’s Cutting Board Restaurant, and teens love the menus that cater to their tastes. Some consider the food reason enough to attend these camps.
After all, whitewater, river rafting in BC is a sport that involves challenges. For example, to understand how to read whitewater it is sometimes best to swim an easy section of the river (all under the close supervision of a raft guide of course).
Camp leaders are Kumsheen Rafting Resort staff who enjoy teenagers and who are very skilled at what they do. Besides certified river rafting guides, they are talented and exemplary young men and women who are excellent role models.
