To reach Cavendish (36km) and Charlottetown (71km) from Summerside by car, it’s quickest to head north on Hwy 1A and then follow Rte 2 to your turn-off.

Acadian Coach Lines stops at the Irving gas station (902-436-2420; 96 Water St) in the center of town and has services to Charlottetown ($11, one hour), Moncton ($30, two hours) and Halifax ($56, 3½ hours). On request, bus shuttles pick up at the Esso station on Hwy 1A at the end of Water St E.
