Introducing Prince Edward Island National Park
Within this renowned park (902-672-6350; www.pc.gc.ca/pei; day pass adult/under 17yr/family $5/2.50/12.50), heaving dunes and red sandstone bluffs provide startling backdrops for some of the island’s finest stretches of sand. This dramatic coast, and the narrow sections of wetland and forest behind it, is home to diverse plants and animals, including the red fox and endangered piping plover.

The park is open year-round, but most services only operate between late June and the end of August. Entrance fees are charged between mid-June and mid-September, and admit you to all park sites, except the House of Green Gables. If planning to stay longer than five days, look into a seasonal pass. The park maintains an information desk at the Cavendish Visitor Centre. Failing that, the provincial tourist office at Brackley Beach also provides useful information.
The following sights and sleeping and eating options are organized from east to west, first covering the park-run facilities, then the private operations inside and out of the park.
