This thread is intended to contain information useful to people travelling to Canada - please feel free to add anything relevant to it! Before we start though, here's some advice from the TT team:

1. Do a TT search! At least five posters a week ask what to do in Toronto, whether to go visit Niagara Falls on their way around the world, and whether it's possible to work under the table/overstay a tourist visa. The road is well travelled. Find those threads, add a reply (which brings the topic to…

Hi all,
we would like to arrange a 2 week trip to Banff and Jasper, it would be the first time with our newborn and we were thinking of renting an RV.

We come from Italy and have never rented an RV before. We thought it would be more convenient with the baby because it would allow us to accommodate her daily routine while still being able to be on location and take images (I am a photographer).
I looked for some rental companies and saw that they do not allow babies less than 1 year old and 9…

Hello All,

Hope you can help.

I fly into Vancouver on the 15th May, and then fly out from Calgary (onwards to Toronto) on the 19th May. So I have a very limited time to get from a to b. Does anyone have any suggestions on which route to take? Where to stop? Any must to things?

I am aware that I should be doing this trip over a lot more days but with work constraints I have had to fit the flights in where I can.

Please help, all advice gratefully received,

Ben

Hi everyone,

I'd love to hear some input on the following itinerary that I came up with for our summer vacation, which will mostly center around Jasper and Banff national parks: http://i.imgur.com/Gre6lNv.png

We're a young couple, fit, like to hike. The idea behind the itinerary was to have a few multi-day hiking trips, and separate them with at least a day or two of short hikes to "recover" from the backpacking trips.
I selected the hikes based on the "Don't Waste Your Time in the Canadian…

has anyone had recent experience of crossing from Canada to the States here?- I am a UK based Canadian citizen travelling with a British passport holder and we will be spending summer in Ontairo this year and was thinking of going over to Detroit at some point. I have looked on here and it said we wont need the ESTA for the British citizen just to fill out the I 94W at the border. Has anyone else done this, what will we need to expect ? I dont know yet if we will take the bus or if I will be…

I'll be arriving in Vancouver on the 6th of August and I'd like to buy a cheap old used car to explore BC with for 3 months. I'll be working in Whistler for the winter season from the 1st of November and will have no need for the car from then on.

I know that I can pick up a cheap car off Craigslist or something similar so let's not worry about that in this topic. I want to find out how to arrange the car insurance. If it simplifies things, let's assume that I won't be leaving BC in this time.

Hi all,

I am travelling to Calgary on the 15th June with a friend. We are trying to do things as cost efficiently as possible.
We have booked the Greyhound from Calgary to Banff, and a hostel in Banff. We will also be visiting Lake Louise, Jasper, Whistler, Vancouver and various other places. We will be in Canada for 6 weeks total.

On trying to book a few days camping, I noticed there is a national park entrance fee. My question is, do you only need this if camping? What if you're not…

Hello!
Ok, so basically I am here to ask people's opinions/ experiences with taking their dog on a working holiday with them. Long story short, I recently graduated university and am in that 'no one will give me a real job' stage and am confused with life, so I figured now would be a great time to take a risk and see new places and experience new things and bump up my resume! But I have a little dog who is all the family I have left, and I can't imagine giving her away. I know about quarantine…

Hi
I shall be travelling to Germany followed by France (Lyon) during first week of May and will be in Europe till mid May 2015. I am thinking of travelling to Italy/Switzerland during the long weekend and I have rented my Car for the whole duration of my stay. If someone has similar plan or have anything in common (few days), shoot me a message.

Take care.
Mike
