Introducing Cavendish
Cavendish Beach and the House of Green Gables have lured tourists here for decades and still make this tiny crossroads the most-visited community on PEI outside of Charlottetown. Many people are puzzled while trying to find the picturesque, historic town center, which is understandable as no such place exists. At the junction of Rte 6 and Hwy 13 is the tourist center and the area’s commercial hub. When you see the service station, wax museum, church, cemetery and assorted restaurants, you’ll know you’re there.

East of Cavendish is a large amusement park, and close by are go-cart tracks, waterslides, golf courses, miniature golf, fairy castles, petting farms, a palace of the bizarre, a planetarium, west coast totem poles, a Ripley’s Believe It or Not and other deliciously tacky diversions. The growing number of manufactured attractions is definitely an eyesore in this scenic region. On the bright side, it’s a kiddie wonderland.
