This thread is intended to contain information useful to people travelling to Canada - please feel free to add anything relevant to it! Before we start though, here's some advice from the TT team:

  1. Do a TT search! At least five posters a week ask what to do in Toronto, whether to go visit Niagara Falls on their way around the world, and whether it's possible to work under the table/overstay a tourist visa. The road is well travelled. Find those threads, add a reply (which brings the…

Hi all,

I will be camping in NF and Lab. For a few weeks Mid August through early Sept.

Does anyone know if there are places where my tent stakes will go in smoothly, or are sites pretty rocky.

Any suggestions for camping in the most scenic of areas?

Thanks..

Hi all,

I have been trying to find a good route from Toronto up to Terra Nova and Gros Morne in Newfoundland. I want to start in the north of Newfoundland and then work my way down south.

Can you give input into what routes to head up north directly, and where ferry can be caught from there?

Also, any recommendations on points along the way, I plan to take 3 days to drive there, most likely, so would need to find a hotel for 1st night and 2nd night.

Thanks greatly for any help.

Which is more scenic, taking the Orleans Express or the train between Quebec City and Montreal.
We are then going onto Ottowa.- train or bus?
As we have booked city centre hotels we don't want to use a hire car until we leave Ottowa.
We are 2 seniors travelling with luggage - each with a large case and hand baggage

Hi guys,

I'm going to West Canada with my gf for 3 weeks in July. We have booked everything so far except the rental car. What is the best company for that and what insurance do we need? Do we need insurance from the rental car company or can we get it separately which may be cheaper?

I've been looking around on expedia.ca and the prices for 14 days start at 700 CAD, but without insurance and no additional driver. And what puzzles me is that when looking at expedia.de (Germany where we are…

Hello all,

I am trying to figure out a seven day itinerary for Seattle/Victoria/Vancouver... Willing to sacrifice Seattle if necessary (I can fly into Victoria instead)! How does the following look? Do I need more time in Seattle/Victoria? I enjoy moseying around the city, food markets, the odd gallery/museum, cafes, parks, waterfront... Don't really need shopping time... Like to choose accommodation that's central...

Day 0: Fly into Seattle or Victoria (evening). Overnight in Seattle.

We are planning a trip the fist week of July to Quebec City and then on to Halifax and surrounding areas including Cape Breton and PEI. I am trying to find the Hwy that would take us from Quebec City to Halifax the quickest way.
Thanks, Amie

Hey guys! So, I'm planning a round the world trip and I would be starting in Canada, and I would like to know your ideal itinerary trip! It doesn't have to be all of Canada, you can post a region or a province if you wish. Don't hold back on the time and activities; my schedule and interests are open! (might as well post my interests/goals: I am a foodie and instagrammer, would like to explore places that makes up Canadian (or the provinces) culture or 'identity', willing to get up at 5am to…
