This thread is intended to contain information useful to people travelling to Canada - please feel free to add anything relevant to it! Before we start though, here's some advice from the TT team:
1. Do a TT search! At least five posters a week ask what to do in Toronto, whether to go visit Niagara Falls on their way around the world, and whether it's possible to work under the table/overstay a tourist visa. The road is well travelled. Find those threads, add a reply (which brings the topic to…
Hi - I am seriously considering graduate school in Canada, and an hoping to get some feedback about pros and cons of Kelowna and Calgary. I live in Ft Collins Colorado right now, and what I love about it is easy access to mountains (backpacking, hiking, biking, snowboarding) cheap beer/good bar scene, easy town access with a road bike. From some internet research it seems like Kelowna would have similar mountain access, but I can't get a good feel about the night life/young community, and I am…
Hey guys,I am planning to travel to Vancouver , BC from Toronto this summer, I have been using eTripBudget as it seems to query the best prices, I was wondering if anyone can recommend other good sites?
Hey! My first post, so here goes.
I(27m) am planning a roadtrip with my girlfriend(22f) from Edmonton, Alberta to Dawson City, Inuvik, Anchorage and Fairbanks as our major stops.
We are planning for around one month, but that could easily extend before or during the trip. Looking to leave late August/Early September to avoid the winter months.
We have traveled by renting a car a couple of times(Scotland and Iceland)and slept in the car just reclining the seats most nights, and made that work…
Hi, I'm travelling to Edmonton in 2 weeks and wanted to know if there are possibilities to find outdoor activities in Banff and/or Jasper which are guided (group), for example hikes, canoe trips etc. I'll visit a friend, but will have to spend a few days alone and would like to explore a little bit the national parks in the meanwhile. Or are there activities that can be done on my own?
Thanks for any suggestions.
We are arriving from the UK in August. I will be staying at the westin castle harbour, does anyone have any good recommendations easy walking distance for a family of 2 adults 2 kids 10,14.
We likes/ sports bars or steakhouses or would even consider Italian restaurant, I have looked at trip advisor but haven't had any joy.

I'm planning to be in PEI for a week in late-ish July.
I'm highly interested in traditional music/dance.
I've found lots of listings for "ceilidhs," concerts, and revues.
But what I'm interested in even more than those types of events is regular people enjoying the local traditional music, be it by playing it, listening to it or dancing to it...
Any advice for where/how to find that?
Are there any of these ceilidh-type events that are more down-to-earth, more targeted towards locals than…
I plan on driving from Montreal to Halifax in August and am looking for a place for an overnight stop. Quebec City is only a bit over 2 hours from Montreal. Any suggestions about a place about midway between Montreal and Halifax that has a selection of hotel/motel accommodations ?
