Getting there & away

The Kingston Coach Terminal (613-547-4916; 1175 John Counter Blvd) is 1km south of Hwy 401, just west of Division St. Coach Canada offers regular services throughout the day to Toronto ($51, three hours), Ottawa ($36, 2½ hours) and Montréal ($52, three hours). Buses also stop at various towns including Cornwall and Brockville. Check out www.coachcanada.com for more information.

If you’re arriving by car on Hwy 401, exits 611, 613, 615, 617, 619 and 623 will lead you downtown. For car rental, try Enterprise (613-389-8969; 2244 Princess St), which offers complimentary pickup and drop-off.

The VIA Rail-Kingston station (888-842-7245; 1800 John Counter Blvd) is about 400m east of where Princess St and John Counter Blvd meet. VIA Rail runs four daily trains to Montréal ($74, 2½ hours), three to Ottawa ($47, two hours) and eight to Toronto ($76, 2½ hours). Extra trains run during the summer.
