Getting there & away

Bus services to the Bruce Peninsula run only on Friday, Saturday and Sunday from late June to early September. Laidlaw Transit (519-376-5712) runs services between Owen Sound and Tobermory ($25, 1½ hours, one daily) with several stops along the peninsula including Wiarton, Lion’s Head (by request only) and Cyprus Lake.

Take the Chi-Cheemaun ferry from the Bruce Peninsula across the mouth of the Georgian Bay to Manitoulin Island. Operated by Ontario Ferries (800-265-3163; www.ontarioferries.com; adult/child/car $14.20/7.05/30.95; early May–mid-Oct), the boat connects Tobermory with South Baymouth (a journey of two hours). There are four daily crossing from late June to early September, and two daily crossings for the other parts of the season, with an additional voyage on Friday evenings. Reservations are strongly encouraged.
