This thread is intended to contain information useful to people travelling to Canada - please feel free to add anything relevant to it! Before we start though, here's some advice from the TT team:

We are a family of 3, including our 7 year old son who will be travelling across parts of USA and Canada in the summer (late July/August).
We will arriving in Calgary, then spending 2 nights there before picking up a car rental and heading to Vancouver Island. That bit is already booked up.

Hi, I'm from the town of Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu (south of Montreal) and I wand to do a road trip across all of Canada up to Vancouver. I know that we have a lot of beautiful natural park, and I want to visit some of them (like Banff), but I'm really more of a people person and I would really like to meet my fellow Canadians. So, what I'm asking is, what is the best way to meet people while travelling trough Canada? What are the most welcoming towns on the way to Vancouver? Thanks in advance…

My wife and I (30 somethings) are planning to do some travelling in BC in June of this year. Looking for suggestions on an itinerary for a 1 1/2 to 2 week trip. Is it worth starting in Calgary (not during the stampede). Thinking of doing Vancouver, Whistler (I think Banff is too far) and then possibly hoping a plane to Seattle.

Does anyone suggestions on travel itineraries for travelling in this area? Thanks.

I'll be in Montreal mid-May to September and need advice on the best way to find a furnished apartment.
I'm looking for a comfortable, quiet one-bedroom in a safe and walkable neighborhood (I won't have a car). I'm just there to enjoy the city for the summer, so I'm flexible on neighborhood. I've been checking out CL and Kijiji and wondering:

  1. Can I show up in mid May, with an Airbnb booked for two weeks, and count on finding a good apartment to start renting in June? Or will everything…
