  1. Centre Option Plein Air

    Competitive rowers and kayakers, amongst other amateur athletes, train here at this former Olympic rowing basin. It's not open to the public except during special events like when the famous Dragonboat rowing races are held in late July. A youth hostel is also on site.

  2. La Ronde Amusement Park

    Québec's largest amusement park, La Ronde has a battery of rides including the 'Monstre' big dipper - the second-largest in the world - a Ferris wheel and a gentle minirail that offers views of the river and city. The latest addition is the Vampire, a corkscrew roller coaster that races at speeds up to 80km/h.

  3. Olympic Stadium

    The Stade Olympique seats 56,000 and remains an architectural marvel though these days hosts mostly concerts and trade shows and rarely sports events. The best thing to do is take the bilevel cable car up the Montréal Tower (Tour de Montréal, also called the Olympic Tower) that leans over the stadium.

  4. Place des Arts

    Montréal's performing arts center is the kingpin of artistic and cultural events. Several renowned musical companies call the Place des Arts home, including the Montréal Symphony Orchestra and the McGill Chamber Orchestra; it's also the nexus of the International Jazz Festival and Les Francofolies.
