Lonely Planet review for Stash Café

Hearty Polish cuisine is served up with good humor in a dining room with seats made of church pews and daringly low red lights illuminating the tables. Staff range from warm and gregarious to completely stand-offish, but the food is consistent, with quality fare like pierogy (dumplings stuffed with meat or cheese, with sour cream) and potato pancakes with apple sauce. An enthusiastic pianist hammers away from time to time.

    Bring on the Vodka!

    thomshane recommends this,

A great staff here will guide you through the dishes and pair them with the perfect vodka. The rustic setting and live pianist add to the charm. A rememberable experience.

Polish food just like Mum used to make!!!!

    joesmj recommends this,

Had to travel half way round the world (from Australia) to find a Polish restaurant that served food that tasted like my Mum's. We found this great restaurant down a laneway while trying to find somewhere to eat in town. Our Canadian friends that were touring us around the area had never had Polish food before, they could not believe how good it was. We filled ourselves up on Barszcz (beetroot soup), Pierogi, Galampki (cabbage rolls) and Bigos (cabbage stew), washing this down with shots of Polish vodka (has to be Polish, the others don't rate). I have eaten in retaurants in Poland, they do not compare in flavour to this place. Next time I'm in Monteal I will be back, no worries.

Haute Polish Cuisine without sacrificing quantity or flavour

    montrealaise recommends this,

The high quality Polish food at this restaurant comes close to the high standards of the best cooks from the old country - my aunts and grandmother. The only thing that's missing is my aunt offering seconds! But not to worry, you really should leave some space for the yummy tort orzechowy (walnut cream cake) or the jablecznik (apple cake). They are unforgettable!
