The original Beaver Club was formed in 1785 by a group of Montréal fur barons, and to join you had to have wintered in the Northwest Territories. Membership is still elite – ask to see the pic of Bill Gates in trapper’s furs – but anyone with the right currency can reserve in the impeccably serviced, old-fashioned dining room to enjoy a cross-section of Canadian luxury edibles. The menu découverte is a multicourse meal highlighting Québec produce like Îles de la Madeleine scallops, Marieville foie gras and Île d’Orléans raspberries. Reservations and proper attire are essential (no jeans; a jacket for men).

    The honeymoon/anniversary dinner

    If you really want to impress that special someone with a dining experience while away for a romantic weekend here the restaurant to do it in.
    The moment you step into the room, your every whim is met with the professionalism of old world class restaurants.
    There is the placing of the napkin on the lap, the complimentary appetizer - cold duck something - the wonderful menu featuring Canadian specialties like caribou and things with maple sauces, and a dessert cart to die for.
    Go all the way and let the waiter recommend a wine to accompany your meal - because let me tell you - the cost at this point is going to be up there, so you might as well go for it!
    If you order tea at the end of your meal they will bring you a large elegant wooden box with varied selections of every kind of tea you can imagine and a big pot of hot water.
    if you don't mind dining early before the big dinner rush, the service is even better!
