Lonely Planet review for L’Express
L’Express has all the hallmarks of Parisian bistro – black-and-white checkered floor, art-deco globe lights, papered tables and mirrored walls. High-end bistro fare completes the picture with excellent seafood dishes (like grilled salmon dressed with sea salt or almond-crusted sole), and even standards such as confit de canard (roast duck) are consistently delicious. The waiters can advise on the extensive wine list. Reservations are essential.

You'll think you are in France...
erynella recommends this,
Black and white checkered floor, leafy indoor palm trees, a jar of cornichons on each table and the elbow to elbow seating would make you think you are eating in a stylish bistro in a Parisian neighbourhood. With people still being seated at 10:30pm, you know it must be good! Great handwritten menu full of excellent food. A great Montreal dining experience, just make sure to make reservations! We walk by around 3:30pm and still couldn't get a seating until 9:00pm, and that was in the slow season.
Seems like it is popular with both tourists and locals alike, a sure sign of a wonderful dining experience in my books, although I'm pretty sure they seat the anglophones and francophones in separate sections. Well done Lonely Planet for recommending this restaurant in the Montreal guidebook!
