This classic grande dame of Montréal has been impressing guests ever since Liz Taylor and Richard Burton got married here. For its 2012 centenary, it reopened after a four-year, $200 million renovation, with only half as may rooms as before and a new set of luxury residences. Rooms are ultra-opulent, with classic touches and impeccable service. But you can always splash out in the Royal Suite, the largest in the city, if you don’t mind dropping $7000 to $10,000 a night.
