This internationally renowned orchestra plays to packed audiences in its Place des Arts base, now home to the new Maison Symphonique de Montréal , an acoustically amazing venue inaugurated in 2011. The OSM’s Christmas performance of The Nutcracker is legendary. Rock-star conductor Kent Nagano, a Californian with a leonine mane and stellar credentials, took over as music director in 2006 and has proven very popular. Check for free concerts at the Basilique Notre-Dame, the Olympic Stadium and in municipal parks in the Montréal area.
