This thread is intended to contain information useful to people travelling to Canada - please feel free to add anything relevant to it! Before we start though, here's some advice from the TT team:
Do a TT search! At least five posters a week ask what to do in Toronto, whether to go visit Niagara Falls on their way around the world, and whether it's possible to work under the table/overstay a tourist visa. The road is well travelled. Find those threads, add a reply (which brings the…

Will be driving from Abbotsford to get the ferry to Victoria, Vancouver Island. I have never driven in Canada before and want to plan the ferry crossing in such a way to avoid traffic jam/rush our around Vancouver. I don't know which side of Vancouver the ferry terminal is located at. Would appreciate any advice regarding which would be a good time to catch a morning ferry and the return ferry to minimize encountering heavy traffic. Many thanks everyone.

I'd like to do a roadtrip starting in Vancouver, going east to British Columbia, Alberta and then the US (Montana, Wyoming, Colorado, Utah, Idaho, Oregon, Washington, back to Vancouver BC) and my idea is to see a lot of scenery, small towns and villages, do things as authentic as possible...
I'm not sure I'm that interested in National Parks. first, because I'm not a big fan of hiking. second I'm more interested in local communities than pure wilderness (especially when the…
Is it possible to take a day trip to Vancouver island as a passenger only. What I am thinking of doing is to leave our rental car at the ferry terminal and for the 5 of us to travel over to the island, have a few hours to look around and return back the same day. Does the standard car ferry have car parking to leave a rental car at the terminal and does it allow foot passengers? Also if this is possible, is there much to see at the terminal area at the Vancouver island side without having to…
We will be in Vancouver in mid June and were planning on doing a nice hike one day. We are basically something that could easily be reach by public transport since we would like to do this in one day. Something that it still in the wild. Either mountains or seashore. Some suggested the Hanes Valley Trail but we are not that fit lol Something more intermediate or easy. But still a good long hike. More then 4 hours. THANKS !!
Hi guys, I'm Sunita, 24yers of age and from the U.K. I plan to travel to Toronto mid June for 4/5 days and then have a connecting flight to Calgary where I'll be staying with cousins. Just wondered where you'd recommend the best hotel/place to stay within downtown Toronto and also, what to do between the dates of 10-14th June. Much appreciated!
