This thread is intended to contain information useful to people travelling to Canada - please feel free to add anything relevant to it! Before we start though, here's some advice from the TT team:

  1. Do a TT search! At least five posters a week ask what to do in Toronto, whether to go visit Niagara Falls on their way around the world, and whether it's possible to work under the table/overstay a tourist visa. The road is well travelled. Find those threads, add a reply (which brings the…

Hi friends!

A friend and I will be taking a car for a week (mid July) and plan on doing Banff -> Lake Louise -> Jasper (with a night in a wilderness hostel between LL and Jasper).
We're both into hiking, but not pro hikers, so would rather not do intensive hikes, especially considering its our first time.
Do you have any ideas on what's a must see? Any suggested trails?

We're either gonna stay 2 nights in Jasper and one in LL, or vice versa.

Thanks!!
G

We are bringing our dog. Are there recommendations for campgrounds and hikes around Banff where we can safely bring our dog? We didn't make any campground reservation, this will be for July 2-5. Any advice is welcome.

I know this year is going to be a busy year for National Parks in Canada due to free admission so I was wondering about camping at a later time in the year.

I am doing a self sustained bike ride from Banff to Jasper this September and I am contemplating just hitting up the campsites. Being that the campsites are first come first serve in most cases, should I just stick to hostels and pre-book or do you think that I will have good enough luck in September to have a place to stay every night?

Hi, we are a family of 4 from Colorado currently visiting BC and trying to support our 9 year old son's birding habit. :) He really wants to go on a pelagic bird boat tour, and all we've been able to find on Vancouver Island is a trip through The Whale Centre in Tofino. I called today and they said they will only offer the bird trip if there is at least one more adult who will go. So, anyone interested??? They really won't schedule us without another person. We're on the island through 7/1, but…

Two hikers seeking two other hikers for Western Brook Pond day hike (tour) sometime over the upcoming long weekend (June 30-July 3).

Minimum of four adults are needed to book the tour which is why we're seeking at least two others to share the tour with. Please send me a message if you are interested!

It's supposed to be a challenging but beautiful hike, and it can't be done without booking a tour. We would be very grateful for the opportunity to do this hike.

Hi guys, first post here!
I will be visiting BC and AB in August/September and i am looking for a couple of big mountains to climb that do not require harness's, ropes and such. I was looking for something around the 3000m mark if possible.

All suggestions welcomed and thank you very much in advance!

Hey everyone, my friends and I are planning an activity vacation and I'd love some advice on optimizing our journey! I've been asking around as much as I can and appreciate any advice.

We have the first week in BC, renting a car and driving everywhere. This is our plan so far:

July 21st -- land in Vancouver at night, pick up our rental, sleep in Vancouver.

July 22nd -- Grouse Mountain and area first half of day, unwind at Stanley Park in the second half.

July 23rd -- explore in the morning…
