    Whistler Museum & Archives

The small but fascinating Whistler Museum & Archives details the region's history and development, from its days as a pioneer outpost to its 1970s emergence as a ski resort. The diverse and eclectic exhibits include a rare collection of stuffed BC birds, an assortment of ski gear and equipment through the ages and an archive of documents and artifacts relating to the six bids Whistler has made to host the Olympic Games.

  3. Squamish Lil'wat Cultural Centre

The dramatic wood-beamed Squamish Lil'wat Cultural Centre showcases two quite different First Nations groups – one coastal and one interior based – with museum exhibits and artisan presentations. Entry starts with a 15-minute movie and includes a self-guided tour illuminating the heritage and modern-day indigenous communities of the region. There's a wealth of art and crafts on display (check out the amazing two-headed sea serpent carving near the entrance) and the energetic young staff encourage plenty of questions about their twin cultures.

    Whistler Museum

The recently revamped Whistler Museum traces the area's dramatic development, with some colorful exhibits plus evocative photos of old skiing gear and the region's pre-resort days. There's also plenty of information on the 2010 Olympics if you missed it (as well as recollections of the previous Games bid).
