Lonely Planet review

About 20km south of Prince Rupert, the North Pacific Cannery National Historic Site, near the town of Port Edward, explores the history of fishing and canning along the Skeena River. The fascinating all-wood complex was used from 1889 to 1968; exhibits document the miserable conditions of the workers, tours cover the industrial process or cannery life. Prince Rupert Transit has bus service to the site.
