Lonely Planet review
With a Hogwarts-like setting on a bluff overlooking Upper Waterton Lake, the grand Prince of Wales blends Swiss-style architecture with the atmosphere of a Scottish castle (Balmoral, perhaps). The hotel is definitely Old Empire, exhibiting such inherent British-isms as waitresses in kilts and high tea in the main lounge. Not far outside the large lake-facing windows, a rawer wilderness awaits.
This regal hotel built by the US–owned Great Northern Railway is the only Canadian link in its chain of historic accommodations.
Our independent authors have visited Prince of Wales Hotel and selected this as one of our recommended hotels in Waterton Lakes National Park.
