Blog: i Backpack Canada - 25 April 2012
The other day I came across Travel Alberta’s incredible award-winning (Remember to Breathe) tourism video, which somehow or another brought me to browsing the videos of every provincial & territorial tourism board. It’s great to see how much thought and passion goes into each of these videos, and what better way to explore a location [...]12 Inspiring Tourism Videos on Canada is a post from: I Backpack Canada

Frozen in Time – Exploring Rural Alberta On An Ice Walk
Blog: Landlopers - 15 March 2012
So here’s something strange about me: I love nature, I love being outside and enjoying the best that Mother Nature has to offer, but I’m not necessarily outdoorsy. What’s the difference you ask? Well, outdoorsy people can live in a tent, commune with nature and...Copyright LandLopers All Rights Reserved. Unauthorized use prohibited.

Five Things I Bet You Don’t Know About Banff
Blog: Landlopers - 24 February 2012
1. Where it is – When I first started researching a trip to Banff way back in 2010, I really had no idea where it was. I knew it was in Canada and that it had a funny name and that was the extent of...Copyright LandLopers All Rights Reserved. Unauthorized use prohibited.

Naked Peace of Mind – Taking the Waters at the Banff Upper Hot Springs
Blog: Landlopers - 17 February 2012
Hot springs aren’t for everyone. First, they can be a bit of a hassle in all honesty, especially when the temperature is negative some ungodly number and you arrive bundled in at least thirty layers of clothing. Then there’s the unpleasant experience of changing alongside...Copyright LandLopers All Rights Reserved. Unauthorized use prohibited.

6 Moments In Time That Make Me Ashamed To Be Canadian
Blog: i Backpack Canada - 15 February 2012
Canada has an uncanny ability to be painted as a picturesque, romantic, eco-conscious and friendly nation. A nation filled with a mosaic of peoples, languages, cultures, and traditions. A nation where recycling is the norm, where people hold doors open for others, where assassins use pies instead of bullets, and where you can find a [...]6 Moments In Time That Make Me Ashamed To Be Canadian is a post from: I Backpack Canada

Flying Down a Mountain – Banff Snow Tubing Adventure and Video
Blog: Landlopers - 10 February 2012
I don’t ski, not at all. I don’t even try anymore lest I further cause injury to myself and others. That’s why I was a little dubious as we drove up to the Mount Norquay Ski Resort in Banff, Canada. After all, they’re kind of...Copyright LandLopers All Rights Reserved. Unauthorized use prohibited.

My Birthday and Dogsledding Through Two Provinces
Blog: Landlopers - 26 January 2012
Tomorrow is my birthday and for the 8th year in a row I’m 29, amazing feat really. Since it’s my birthday, I thought I’d write about two things I love: dogs and travel. No, it’s not a story about some strange traveling dog or how...Copyright LandLopers All Rights Reserved. Unauthorized use prohibited.

Five (non-ski) Reasons to Visit Banff in the Winter
Blog: Landlopers - 23 January 2012
1. Tons of activities - Banff is one of the top ski destinations in the world, but if you’re like me and don’t ski (I just fall) there’s still a lot to do in and around this mountain town. We spent a long weekend in...Copyright LandLopers All Rights Reserved. Unauthorized use prohibited.

Luxury Hostels Exist In Banff – HI Banff Alpine Centre
Blog: i Backpack Canada - 25 August 2011
Pop culture hasn’t been kind to budget accommodation. Movies featuring grimey, dingy, cockroach infested rooms have been prevalent for years. While that may be the case in some impoverished nations, or just poorly managed facilities, my experience in Canadian hostels hasn’t seen much of that.

Interview with a Moose Network Travel Guide
Blog: i Backpack Canada - 4 July 2011
I recently had the opportunity to sit down for a couple Red Beers (Clamato + Beer, wuddup!) with Rachel Huber, one of Moose Networks Canadian Travel Guides. She agreed to answer a few questions about what she does and offer up some tips for backpackers interested in traveling Canada. I should also mention that I’ve [...]Interview with a Moose Network Travel Guide is a post from: I Backpack Canada

Roaming on the tip of a Glacier at the Columbia Ice fields
Blog: i Backpack Canada - 27 June 2011
Driving through the Rockies in the warm Canadian summer, it can become all too familiar to see snow & ice, to the point where it becomes as habitual as seeing the clouds surrounding these gargantuan mountains. However, making contact with snow can be rather difficult, as it’s typically a couple thousand feet too far out [...]Roaming on the tip of a Glacier at the Columbia Ice fields is a post from: I Backpack Canada

Kayaking Near Revelstoke Mountain with The Hoodapus Gang
Blog: i Backpack Canada - 19 June 2011
The Moose Bus pulled up at a small campground on the edge of Williamson Lake, travellers from all over the world climbed out and took in the fresh air. Mount Revelstoke loomed over us like a protective parent. We approached the small lake and were greeted by an SUV and trailer full of wooden kayaks. Into the Rockies We Go with Moose Network
Blog: i Backpack Canada - 16 June 2011
I stretched my aching and tired body across the queen size bed that I’m calling my own. The folks at Hosteling International know how to make a traveller feel welcome. A bed to crash in on one of Vancouver’s most busiest & eclectic streets is all a guy can ask for. I breathed out, and [...]Into the Rockies We Go with Moose Network is a post from: I Backpack Canada

O Canada!
Blog: Hecktic Travels - 7 October 2010
I returned from South America August 13, 2010 with a real mix of emotions. I was super excited to be reunited with Dalene, yet after a night layover in Miami and then being back in Calgary, I was overwhelmed with North American culture. Thankfully, we did not stay in Calgary for long and we whisked away to the Crowsnest Pass to enjoy a weekend alone together in the wilderness.

The Canadian 2: Melville to Toronto
Blog: Aerohaveno: A Travel Blog - 17 September 2010
Here are some images from the second part of my 4,466 km train journey from Vancouver to Toronto on VIA Rail's flagship service, The Canadian... 1. Heading east from Alberta, we crossed into the next province, Saskatchewan. Usually each day we stopped somewhere for half an hour or so for train maintenance purposes, often just a small town.
