Canada Olympic Park
Canada Olympic Park information
In 1988 the Winter Olympics came to Canada for the first time. Calgary played host, and many of the events were contested at Canada Olympic Park. It's near the western edge of town along Hwy 1 – you can't miss the distinctive 70m and 90m ski jumps crowning the skyline.
Check out the Sports Hall of Fame (admission $12) and learn about some great Canadian athletes and the story of the Calgary games. If you're feeling more daring, go for a 60-second bobsled ride ($135) with a professional driver on a 120kmph Olympic course. It could be the most exhilarating and expensive minute of your life. Alternatively, you can take a trip along a zip line ($69) from the top of the ski jump. In winter you can go for a ski , or strap on a snowboard and hit the superpipe. Summer is for mountain biking , when you can ride the lift-serviced trails till your brakes wear out.
