Club de Canoë de Course de Lachine
Out near the edge of Lac St-Louis, this canoeing club rents out canoes as well as single and double kayaks. Visitors are welcome, though it’s more geared to folks in the club who come to train or participate in dragon boat races (canoe instruction is also available). If you really want a workout, it’s a lovely bike ride to the club, following along the canal.

Parc de la Rivière-des-Mille-Îles
This is one of the most beautiful spots for canoeing and kayaking. This park on the Rivière des Mille-Îles near Laval has 10 islands where you can disembark on self-guided water tours, and about 10km of the river (including calm inner channels) are open for paddling. You can rent a wide range of watercraft, including 20-seat rabaskaw – canoes like those used by fur trappers.

Sea Sun Kayak Adventures
Ideally you'll do this further away from polluted Halifax Harbour. But if you can't wait to get on the ocean, try Sea Sun Kayak Adventures, which offers enjoyable day-long tours of sights along the sheltered North West Arm. They also have a second location in Terrence Bay, a short drive from Halifax, that rents kayaks and offers a range of other trips. Their 'Kayak Bus' will pick up paddlers at their place of lodging within the Halifax area.
