I just had an amazing experience volunteering with chimpanzees at Sanaga-Yong Chimpanzee Rescue Center in Cameroon. Sanaga-Yong rescues chimpanzees from horrific abusive situations and from the illegal wildlife trade.

They need volunteers to stay for at least 6 months to do diverse work including helping with chimpanzee care and feeding, washing fruit, cleaning cages, assisting with facilities and fence maintenance, overseeing use of project equipment, painting, buying food and supplies in town…

Hey,
I was just wondering, if someone has experience with travelling in central africa alone as a woman ?
I ll leave for Cameroon in a few months and I like to visit as many places as I can, however before I'd like to check with someone who's been to San Tome, DRC, Gabon or equatorial guinea?
Thanks for your comments and help!

Hello all!
I'm traveling from Bangui, RCA to Paris, with a stop in Yaounde. I still have some Francs left and want to change them into Euros, which is difficult in both Bangui and Europe. Is there a way in Yaounde transit to exchange the money?
Thanks! N

Hi All,

I'm travelling to Cameroon later this week and will be working for most of my visit. However, the airline I booked my flight with recently called to tell me that my departure flight has changed from leaving from Duoala to leaving from Yaounde. Given this, I now need to travel between the two cities and am looking for something to do on the way. I will have a full day (the day of my flight) and possibly an afternoon the day before to get between the two cities. I was thinking of…

Hello everybody,

it has been some time now that a proper trip report was posted here on Cameroon. Therefore, I hope the info on my journey through the (North-)West and South of the country can be of use for those being interested in going there. Unfortunately, the North and Far North of Cameroon are currently off the map for tourists due to the Boko Haram campaign, which is a pity, but there is still much to explore in the South and it feels pretty safe.
As a guidebook I used the German-language…

Hello people,
I'm trying to decide where to go and it feels like my head is going to explode because I just can't make up my mind...decisions, decisions...
I visited Rwanda, DRC and Ethiopia last year and the experience convinced me that I should indeed see more of Africa.
At first, I thought that I might try Uganda, but have since moved my interest to West Africa.

I'm mainly interested in experiencing Africa rather than ticking off the sights. I would also like to explore some of the region's…

I was reading it's possible to get a Gabon visa at the landborder of Gabon-Cameroon for 40.000 CFA. But the Infos are from 2013. Has anyone done this recently?

I need urgently information. My flight from Libreville is booked and I need asap the visa.

Thank you for your help!

One month ago I was in Gabon and planning to travel to Cameroun. In the newest LP Cameroun chapter you read this: "Visas are required for all travellers and must be bought prior to arrival in the country. At Cameroonian embassies in neighbouring countries visas are issued quickly for around US $60". So I went to the Cameroon embassy in Libreville. The price was maybe ok, it was also quickly, as it was the processed on the same day, BUT: YOU MUST BE A RESIDENT OF GABON TO GET IT THERE. So I was…
